Family Cupedidae

Reticulated Beetles

The Reticulated Beetles, Cupedidae, are divided into two subfamilies. One, Priacminae, contains only the North American genus Priacma.

The other subfamily, Cupedinae, has eight genera found in the Americas, Africa, Asia, and Australia.

All told, the family contains only 30 species worldwide.

Larvae of this family mine in wood, particularly rotting wood that contains strands of fungus.
