Length: 8 - 11 mm
This species and its close relatives are grouped in the subtribe Cymindidina, distributed across Eurasia and America north of Panama. The group is also represented in north Africa, and in a small part of sub-Saharan Africa (Hunting, 2013).
Cymindis limbata is found across the eastern United States. It has also been recorded from Ontario, Quebec, and Nova Scotia.
These beetles can be found in leaf litter as well as under bark, stones, or logs. They also come readily to lights.
