Lopes and Silva (2012) summarized the key genitalic characteristic of cockroaches in subfamily Pseudophyllodromiinae: "characterized by having the phallomere hooked on the right side in dorsal view."

Euphyllodomia contains 29 described species distributed from the southeastern U.S. to the northern half of Brazil.
