Family: Aeshnidae
Genus Triacanthagyna was described by Edmond de Sélys Longchamps in 1883. It contains nine species distributed from Texas and South Carolina south to Uruguay and a small part of adjacent Argentina. The genus also occurs in the Antilles. This is a forest genus and nymphal development occurs in ephemeral pools and in water accumulated in bromeliads and other plants.
