Family: Cicadellidae

Subfamily: Deltocephalinae

Tribe: Balcluthini

Length: 3.5 - 4.0 mm

Balclutha impicta is a pale green leafhopper that sometimes has markings on the wings, and sometimes doesn't. Sometimes there are reddish to brown markings on the vertex and the front of the pronotum.

Two traits to watch for are the very short head, and the head being considerably narrower than the widest part of the pronotum.

Balaclutha impicta ranges from British Columbia to Prince Edward Island, south into the northeastern United States. Beirne (1956) notes that this species is "widely distributed but local."

The females are a little larger than the males.
