Length: hopper in the photo 3.0 mm
Clastopera compta was first pictured and described in that masterwork of Neotropical botany and zoology, Biologia Centrali-Americana (1894-1909). The markings are fairly constant within the species, but note that the color may vary from maroon with white markings to black with creamy yellow markings. The precise range of this species isn’t clear, but at the least it is found in southern Mexico and northern Central America.
