Family: Cicadellidae

Subfamily: Deltocephalinae

Tribe: Tribe Chiasmini

Length: 3.5 - 4.7 mm

Exitianus exitiosus is native to North America but is an invasive species elsewhere, including Australia. It is a pest of cultivated grasses including those in lawns.

Gustin and Stoner (1973) raised Exitianus exitiosus in the labratory on grass species including green foxtail grass, wheat, and barley. On hard red spring wheat development took 55 days for males (egg to adult) and 60 days for females.

This species is widely distributed and sometimes locally common in southern Canada, the United States, and northern Mexico.
