Smaller and darker than other members of the genus, and may have (as in the photo) a bluish cast. Look for overall reticulate venation over the entire tegmena.
The hopper shown here was attracted to lights in the western foothills of West Virginia. The adjacent forest was dominated by hemlock, spruce, and rhododendron, and was at an elevation of 2000 feet.
