The 11 species of Protalebrella are confined to the New World. The range of Protalebrella brasiliensis is from Georgia to Texas and south to Argentina. Because the other 10 species have more restricted Neotropical ranges, the range of the genus is the same as the range for Protalebrella brasiliensis: Georgia and Texas to Argentina. Note that P. brasiliensis is found on a number of Caribbean islands as well.
