Length: 7 - 13 mm in the genus
Banasa cf. zeteki and similar species vary from reddish brown to olive in color, often with ivory color as well. The top of the head is punctate all across its surface. B. zeteki is common from Mexico to Colombia, and has also been reported from Cuba, Dominica, and the Dominican Republic. The big pictured here is consistent with B. zeteki, but it is not possible to rule out similar species without genitalic examination (Thomas and Yonke, 1988).
Banasa species commonly are attracted to lights, as this one was.
